Guenther Steiner has compared Marc Marquez to Lewis Hamilton ahead of the 2026 British MotoGP at Silverstone, highlighting their ability to deliver speed when required while also managing their public image.

Steiner, now the CEO and owner of Red Bull KTM Tech3 after previously serving as Haas Formula 1 team principal, was asked which F1 driver Marquez reminded him of most. He selected Hamilton, while stressing that the British driver retains a distinctive character of his own.

“He seems a bit like Hamilton to me, given that he's very good at going fast when needed but also at managing his image,” Steiner told Motosprint.

“He doesn't manage it like Lewis because he's unique, but he's good, and obviously he's won a lot,” Steiner added. The comparison comes with Marquez and Hamilton both back near the front of their respective championships after overcoming difficult periods in their careers.

Marquez secured his seventh MotoGP world championship in 2025, his first title since 2019 following several injury-affected seasons and multiple operations. In 2026, the Ducati rider has won three of the last four races heading into the British MotoGP and sits third in the championship, 18 points behind Jorge Martin.

Hamilton has also returned to championship contention after a difficult first season with Ferrari in 2025. He claimed his maiden Ferrari victory in Barcelona earlier this year and heads into Formula 1's summer break second in the standings, 50 points behind Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Steiner's comparison centres on Marquez's ability to combine outright speed with the management of pressure and profile, qualities he believes resemble Hamilton. Marquez will next return to competition after the summer break at the 2026 British MotoGP at Silverstone carrying momentum from three victories in his last four races.
