George Russell has openly criticized the handling of the chaotic weekend after a series of bizarre abnormalities completely disrupted proceedings at the Malaysian Grand Prix, leaving drivers and fans frustrated.
The race start was delayed by over 40 minutes due to a heavy downpour soaking the circuit. Shortly after the cars finally got going, several machines abruptly came to a halt on the track during the formation lap because of an unexpected software bug in the power unit.
That dramatic hiccup resulted in an even longer delay, with the race ultimately getting underway more than 90 minutes past its original scheduled start time. Amidst the tension, the Mercedes charger looked well on course for another strong podium finish before disaster struck his machinery.

A sudden power unit issue crippled his car, forcing him into a painful retirement from the race. When asked by media including RacingNews365 if his failure was related to excessive temperatures behind the safety car, he firmly rejected the notion.
"No, I don't think so. I mean, we don't know. There was just a sudden failure," the British driver explained to reporters, left scratching his head over the abrupt technical failure that ended his promising afternoon.
To make matters worse, his retirement occurred under a safety car period that was heavily prolonged as race control allowed Sergio Perez to overtake the pack to unlap himself, waiting meticulously for him to rejoin the back of the queue.
"The whole day felt like a bit of a faff with the delay, the red flag, the endless laps under the safety car," he vented, clearly unimpressed with the prolonged administrative delays on track.
"Suddenly you're doing extra laps to allow Checo to overtake... it just didn't feel very F1. I would have been a bit disappointed, if I was in the stands watching that unfold, that wasn't good. From my side, just a bit frustrating."
The pointless Sunday leaves him facing a massive deficit in the drivers' standings, now sitting significantly behind teammate Kimi Antonelli, who maximized the chaotic circumstances by bringing home a stellar second-place finish.
