FIA Investigates Rock Strike on Alejandro Cachon's Car

Alejandro Cachon was involved in a frightening incident during Friday's Acropolis Rally Greece when a large rock struck the windscreen of his car while he was travelling at full speed along a straight.

The Spanish WRC2 driver said the rock appeared to come from the bushes before smashing into the co-driver's side of the windscreen, leaving the glass badly cracked. Cachon believes the incident could not have been caused by a stone thrown up by his own car.

"I think it's something that is unacceptable. We are inside the car taking a lot of risks in every corner, and then someone throws a rock at you. We were lucky it didn't come into the car because if it hits you, you can be in big trouble," said Cachon.

Although he did not see anyone throw the rock, Cachon argued that the incident occurred in the middle of a straight, making it highly unlikely that the stone had bounced back from the road surface. He believes it was deliberately thrown from the side of the stage.

FIA has confirmed that the incident will be fully investigated. Cachon welcomed the decision, stressing that competitor safety must remain the priority and that such incidents cannot be accepted in the championship.

Despite the scare, Cachon maintained his pace by setting the fastest WRC2 stage time. He ended the opening full day of Acropolis Rally Greece third in the WRC2 standings, with Andreas Mikkelsen leading the category ahead of Robert Virves.
