Ferrari's return from the summer break has been nothing short of disastrous. In the last three races, the Scuderia has scored just 51 points, a tally that even individual drivers like Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris have comfortably surpassed.
Ferrari entered the second half of the season with high hopes. Lewis Hamilton even expressed optimism that the team would be stronger after the break. However, reality has painted a different picture. At Zandvoort, Monza, and Madrid, Ferrari managed only 31 points in the Netherlands, eight in Italy, and 12 in Spain. That total of 51 points is not even enough to match Antonelli's individual haul of 73 points or Norris's 58 points.
Even more surprising, George Russell, who has been struggling, has collected the same number of points as Ferrari since Zandvoort: 51 points. This underscores just how sluggish the Maranello team's progress has been.
The impact on the standings is significant. Hamilton's gap to the championship leader has more than doubled in three weeks, from -50 to -101 points. Meanwhile, in the constructors' championship, Mercedes is pulling away. Ferrari's deficit to Mercedes has widened from 72 points after Hungary to 145 points after Madrid. Now, with McLaren's resurgence, Ferrari must be wary as they lead the papaya team by only 52 points in third place.
The core issue lies in car development. Ferrari brought aerodynamic updates in the Netherlands and used its second power unit allocation through the ADUO system in Monza. However, so far, these updates have not yielded the expected results. Meanwhile, rivals continue to improve. McLaren will introduce the final part of the package that debuted in Hungary, while Mercedes is preparing significant developments for Sepang.
With this situation, Ferrari is under immense pressure. They must not only close the gap but also defend their position from McLaren's charge. If they don't find a solution soon, this season could end without a title.
