The race weekend at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia turned into a disaster for Fermin Aldeguer after enduring three separate crashes at the Mandalika International Street Circuit. Following minor slips during the opening practice and timed sessions, the young Spaniard suffered another harmless tumble from his Ducati during Sunday afternoon's full-length Grand Prix.
Though the crash itself was relatively harmless, the resulting outburst of anger proved costly. Overcome by frustration, he struck the asphalt with his bare hand, an impulsive reaction that fractured the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand. A successful surgical procedure was promptly performed in Barcelona to repair the broken bone.
With his physical fitness severely compromised, his participation in the upcoming Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island remains highly doubtful. During his recovery, he made an appearance at the Superbike World Championship round in Jerez, wearing a heavy cast and a protective arm sling. Should a replacement rider be required, Superbike runner-up Iker Lecuona stands ready to step in once again.

While visiting the paddock in Jerez, Aldeguer caught up with old acquaintances and met his future teammate, Nicolo Bulega. The Italian rider will share the garage with him when they team up at the VR46-Ducati squad in MotoGP for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Bulega expressed his admiration during their brief five-minute meeting in the pit lane, noting his desire to learn from the Spaniard's premier-class experience.
Reflecting on the incident in Indonesia, Bulega offered total understanding regarding the emotional outburst following the third crash. Pushing a motorcycle at extreme speeds while fueled by raw adrenaline often leads to devastating frustration when months of team preparation vanish in a single mistake, creating a pressure cooker environment where keeping calm becomes nearly impossible.
