F1 has officially unveiled its 2027 calendar, featuring 24 races and an expanded 10 sprint events, including a first-ever sprint at Monaco. The decision has raised eyebrows given the circuit's narrow street layout.
The season kicks off with a Middle East double-header: the Bahrain Grand Prix in Sakhir on 14 March, followed by the Saudi Arabian GP in Jeddah a week later. Australia then becomes the third race in a triple-header with Japan and China.
Next, F1 heads to North America for the Miami GP on 2 May, then the Canadian GP a fortnight later. There are no new races, but two former venues return: Portimao and Istanbul. The Portuguese GP is set for 20 June, while the Turkish GP on 3 October forms the middle of a second triple-header alongside Azerbaijan and Singapore.
A third triple-header comprises the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. The season concludes with a Middle East double-header in Qatar and Abu Dhabi on 12 December. Barcelona and the Netherlands have dropped off the calendar.
The increase in sprint races from six to 10 is a major talking point. Monaco will host its first sprint, despite overtaking being nearly impossible there. However, the sprint weekend offers a second qualifying session, often the highlight of the Monaco weekend.
