Elfyn Evans finally ended his long wait for world rally glory following an astonishing and tension-filled finale at Rally Italia Sardegna. Entering the final stages under immense pressure after seeing his championship lead erode through road-cleaning duties and a costly puncture, the Welshman faced another agonizing moment when the title race went down to the absolute wire.

With the championship battle culminating on the Sassari-Argentiera Power Stage, Evans completed his run knowing he had left everything on the table despite an imperfect drive. Main rival Oliver Solberg looked poised to snatch the crown away as he held a comfortable margin with barely a kilometer remaining in the rally.
