In a move that has sent ripples through the Moto2 paddock, Deniz Oncu has signed with Momoven Idrofoglia RW Racing Team for the 2027 season. The 23-year-old Turkish rider will leave ELF Marc VDS Racing Team at the end of the current campaign to embark on a new chapter with the only Dutch Grand Prix team.

Oncu is no ordinary talent. With five Grand Prix victories, seventeen podiums, and eight pole positions to his name, he has established himself as one of the most promising riders in the intermediate class. His switch to RW Racing signals a strategic step for both parties: Oncu seeks a fresh challenge, while the Dutch outfit aims to elevate its status on the global stage.

Interestingly, Oncu will return to a Kalex chassis—the latest material provided by the team. He previously rode a Boscoscuro chassis at Marc VDS. “I am very happy to be joining and looking forward to this new chapter. It gives me a lot of confidence to ride a chassis that I had a very good feeling with in the past,” Oncu said in an official release. “The drive and spirit within the team really appeal to me. My ambition is clear: I want to run at the front, fight for podiums and wins, and ultimately contend for the championship.”

Oncu’s journey to Moto2 has been impressive. Born in Alanya on July 26, 2003, he began racing in 2011. After winning the Asia Talent Cup in 2017 and finishing runner-up in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup behind his twin brother, Can Oncu, he made his Grand Prix debut in 2019. Since 2020, he has been a full-time Moto3 rider, finishing fifth in 2022. His first victory came at the Sachsenring in 2023, before stepping up to Moto2 a year later.

Oncu’s arrival is not the only big news. Momoven Idrofoglia RW Racing has also recruited several experienced team members from the ELF Marc VDS structure. This move strengthens the technical and organizational side, aligning with the team’s goal to consistently challenge at the front of Moto2 in 2027. Team manager Javi Martinez welcomed Oncu’s decision. “Deniz is a fast and mature rider. We believe he can lead the team and take us to the next level,” he said.

With a combination of young talent and experienced technical staff, Momoven Idrofoglia RW Racing is showing serious intent to take on the established teams. The 2027 Moto2 season promises to be a fierce battleground, and Oncu’s presence on the grid adds another layer of excitement. Can he fulfill his ambition of winning the title? We will find out on track.
