General Motors president Mark Reuss has paid a glowing tribute to Sergio Perez as the veteran driver prepares for a monumental milestone in his Formula 1 career. The Mexican driver is set to contest his 300th Grand Prix, cementing his status among an elite group of drivers in the sport's history.
Perez will become just the seventh driver in F1 history to reach the milestone, joining an exclusive club that includes Rubens Barrichello, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, and Michael Schumacher. This landmark achievement will take place in front of his adoring home crowd at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.
As part of the festive weekend, Perez has already taken to the streets for a demonstration run along the iconic Paseo de la Reforma. He is also scheduled to visit General Motors staff in the city before hitting the track in the MAC-26. Demonstrating their long-term commitment, Cadillac recently announced a contract renewal with the Mexican driver extending through to 2029.

Speaking about the celebrations at the Autosport Business Exchange New York, Reuss emphasized the magnitude of the occasion. "It's a big deal," Reuss stated. He further added, "It'll be Checo's 300th, really proud to have him driving for our team, and he's given us so much feedback, and expertise on someone who's run the tracks."
Reuss praised the invaluable technical feedback provided by Perez and his teammate, noting how their vast experience aids the new squad. "Both giving us real feedback around the car, the track, and what the differences are and how to build the models, and how to get those simulations right as we move through and experience our first season," Reuss explained, concluding that having Perez onboard is an absolute honor for the brand.
