Brian Uriarte set the pace in a wet Moto3 Free Practice 2 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on Saturday morning. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider clocked a 1'52.262 on a drying track, beating Adrian Fernandez and David Almansa.
Overnight rain left the track wet for the start of the session. Despite the sun making an appearance, riders opted for wet tyres. The pit lane opened to a quiet track before Scott Ogden ventured out. Maximo Quiles and David Almansa then traded the top spot, while Uriarte had a spectacular save at Turn 6. Replacement rider David Gonzalez was less fortunate, crashing at the same corner but escaping injury.
In the closing stages, Uriarte asserted himself and secured the fastest time. Adrian Fernandez of Leopard Racing ended up second, 0.412 seconds adrift, with Almansa (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) third, 0.447s back. Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Indonesian rider Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) completed the top five.
This result is a positive sign for Uriarte, who had been relatively quiet earlier. Meanwhile, Almansa, who was fastest in Friday's Practice, had to settle for third. Wet conditions at Misano often play a decisive role, and adaptability is key.
Veda Pratama once again showed solid performance by breaking into the top five. The young Indonesian continues to make progress in the Moto3 class, and this result is valuable momentum for the upcoming qualifying session.
Moto3 qualifying will take place this afternoon, and riders must be prepared for a track that could still be wet or starting to dry. The battle for pole position is expected to be tight, given the small gaps between riders.
For Indonesian fans, Veda Pratama will look to continue his positive trend. Meanwhile, Uriarte aims to maintain his strong form to secure a maximum result in Sunday's race.
