Bezzecchi Sets Lap Record in British MotoGP Practice

Marco Bezzecchi made a stunning return to MotoGP action by topping Friday practice for the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The Aprilia rider not only led the session but also smashed the circuit lap record with a 1m 56.280s.

The former title leader, back on the RS-GP for the first time since breaking his collarbone at Sachsenring, edged out Raul Fernandez by 0.335s. Fabio Di Giannantonio was the only non-Aprilia rider in the top three, finishing third for VR46 Ducati.

Championship leader Jorge Martin took fourth, with Ai Ogura completing the top five. However, there was late drama as Pecco Bagnaia and Pedro Acosta both made mistakes, dropping the Italian out of the top ten and into Q1.

Alex Marquez, who led FP1, continued his strong form and traded times with brother Marc before Bezzecchi's late charge. The session also saw Joan Mir and Jack Miller impress, putting Honda and Yamaha in Q2 spots.

Home hero Cal Crutchlow thrilled the crowd by rising to 14th before settling for 20th, while the Aprilia dominance sent a clear message to the rest of the grid.
