Return to Enstone After 14 Years
For Elliott, this marks a return to Enstone after 14 years. Before joining Mercedes, he worked at the team known then as Renault and later Lotus between 2008 and 2012. Prior to that, he also spent time at McLaren from 2000 to 2008. Now, he returns to the team currently under the Alpine banner, bringing a wealth of experience from two top teams.
Successful Track Record at Mercedes
Elliott left Enstone in 2012 to join Mercedes as head of aerodynamics. His career at Brackley continued to rise: in 2017 he became Technology Director, then promoted to Technical Director in 2021, and finally trusted as Chief Technical Officer in 2023. During 11 years at Mercedes, he contributed significantly to eight constructors' titles and seven drivers' championships, including Lewis Hamilton's 2008 title which he achieved while still at McLaren.
New Challenge at Alpine
After completing his gardening leave, Elliott spent several months considering the offers available. He ultimately chose Alpine, a team striving to bounce back after several difficult seasons. Elliott's presence is expected to bring quality and experience to improve the team's performance. His collaboration with Flavio Briatore, who is now active again at Alpine, is noteworthy.
