The race weekend at the Sepang Circuit delivered a rollercoaster of emotions and performance for Alex Marquez. The Gresini Racing rider experienced a demanding event filled with both brilliant flashes of speed and severe physical limitations that ultimately forced a major career decision regarding his immediate racing future.

Starting the grand prix weekend with strong pace, the Spanish rider demonstrated competitive speed aboard his Ducati machine. Although he lost the lead early in the main race after his brother Marc Marquez executed a textbook late-braking maneuver, Alex managed to maintain a strong rhythm during the opening laps while battling heavy tire degradation and intense pressure from chasing rivals.

"My main goal was to cross the finish line and bring home a solid result," explained Alex Marquez. "I made a big mistake in the sprint race and wanted to redeem myself now. I admit I was slightly concerned that Marc and Pedro Acosta might pull away with superior speed. I could keep up in the early phase, but later I had to let Pedro pass after his brilliant maneuver at Turn 9. Ultimately, I am glad I could bring this podium home safely."

Following the conclusion of the Malaysian GP, the rider dropped a bombshell by revealing his upcoming absence from the grid due to persistent physical issues stemming from an earlier crash in Barcelona. The recurring shoulder pain has rendered him unable to sustain the grueling demands of a triple-header race calendar without medical intervention.

"I have decided to undergo surgery in Spain tomorrow. The goal is to return fit for Portimao. There is simply no other way forward. Ever since my crash in Barcelona, I have been struggling with my collarbone and shoulder. It has become clear that three races in a row are simply too much for me right now, and the time has come to intervene surgically," stated the rider.

This decisive medical move means the team will have to cope without their star rider for the upcoming round. Meanwhile, in the championship standings, his points tally remains steady as he looks toward a complete recovery and a strong comeback later in the season.
