Duerksen Wins F2 Monza Sprint Race from Seventh

Joshua Duerksen stormed to victory in the Formula 2 sprint race at Monza, taking his third win of the season from seventh on the grid.

John Bennett of Trident started from reverse-grid pole and led into Turn 1, but behind him Oliver Goethe (MP Motorsport) lost second to ART Grand Prix's Tasanapol Inthraphuvusak at the first chicane.

Duerksen from Invicta Racing moved up to fourth by passing Martinius Stenshorne of Rodin at the first Lesmo. As Bennett extended his lead, Duerksen and Stenshorne closed on Goethe, who dropped to fifth.

Duerksen's charge continued as he hunted down Inthraphuvusak for second. After being forced wide at Turn 1, he made the pass stick the following lap. A key championship moment came when Rafael Camara (Campos) was spun by Nico Varrone and stalled, becoming the first retirement.

The safety car was deployed, and on the restart, Bennett initially held off Duerksen. But on lap nine, Duerksen swept past down the pit straight with DRS. He then controlled the field to the flag, despite a second safety car for Roman Bilinski's stranded DAMS car at Ascari.

Duerksen took a comfortable win, with Bennett settling for second. Goethe fended off Stenshorne to complete the podium. This victory strengthens Duerksen's title challenge and highlights his consistency this season.
