The world championship title fight reaches a crucial juncture as the series heads to the Sepang Circuit for the 19th round of the season from October 30 to November 1. The 2026 Malaysian GP promises fierce battles at the front given the razor-thin points margin at the top of the standings.
Marc Marquez of Ducati arrives at this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix holding a 10-point championship lead. The Spanish rider carries valuable momentum following his impressive victory in the sprint race at Phillip Island last time out.
On the other side of the garage, his nearest rival Jorge Martin of Aprilia faces a monumental test as he attempts to race despite carrying a broken arm following his high-speed crash in Australia.

Interestingly, both title protagonists have enjoyed relatively limited success at Sepang. Marquez last won the race back in 2018, while Aprilia has never scored a premier class podium at this historic Malaysian venue.
Ducati instead holds a strong recent record, having won the last four MotoGP races at Sepang. Alex Marquez triumphed for Gresini in 2025, while Francesco Bagnaia has won twice at the venue and Enea Bastianini was victorious in 2023.
The weekend action kicks off on Friday, October 30 with Free Practice 1 at 10:45 local time, followed by the Practice session at 15:00. Saturday, October 31 features Free Practice 2 at 10:10, Qualifying 1 at 10:50, Qualifying 2 at 11:15, and the Sprint race at 15:00. The weekend culminates with the main Grand Prix race on Sunday, November 1 at 15:00 local time.
