The second practice session of the Mexico Grand Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez delivered a thrilling battle at the front. Charles Leclerc claimed the top spot with a blistering lap time of 1m17.827s, outpacing his fierce rivals from McLaren and Mercedes as track evolution played a massive role in the low-grip conditions.
The Monegasque driver carried his strong momentum from the opening session into the afternoon. Despite a couple of moments running wide through the stadium section on soft compound tyres, the Ferrari star bounced back to lower the benchmark and secure a perfect Friday in Mexico City.
However, it was not an entirely smooth afternoon for the Italian squad as Lewis Hamilton encountered power unit issues. The seven-time world champion suffered a sudden loss of power down the main straight, bringing his car to a halt at the exit of Turn 3 and causing a brief Virtual Safety Car intervention.

Meanwhile, Lando Norris put in a strong recovery after handing his car over to a rookie during FP1. The McLaren charger briefly went top of the timesheets before ultimately slotting into second place, just 0.103s adrift of Leclerc's benchmark.
The one-hour running also featured a red flag period caused by debris after an incident in the stadium section, before teams transitioned into high-fuel long runs during the final twenty minutes to gather crucial race data ahead of Sunday's Grand Prix.
