Nicolo Bulega has dismissed concerns over the pace of team-mate Iker Lecuona at the Hungary WorldSBK round, maintaining confidence in his ability to fight for victory despite being outpaced in Friday practice sessions.

Lecuona topped both FP1 and FP2 at Balaton Park, leading by over two tenths in the opening session and by one tenth in the second. His performance confirmed pre-event expectations that he would be competitive, positioning him as a strong contender for race wins this weekend.

However, analysis of long-run data indicates that Bulega holds an advantage in consistency. The championship leader maintained lap times consistently in the high 1m38s to low 1m39s range, whereas Lecuona, despite matching that pace on peak laps, showed greater variation across his runs.

Bulega acknowledged that the Hungarian circuit does not naturally suit his riding style, but emphasised that adaptability remains key. He noted that adjustments to his riding approach have already yielded positive results, with further improvements expected heading into the next sessions.

From a technical perspective, Bulega underlined the strength of the Ducati package, describing the current bike as inherently competitive despite limited historical data due to its relatively recent development cycle.

He also identified specific areas for refinement, particularly through the chicane sections where time loss remains evident. Optimising performance in these technical segments is expected to be critical in closing any remaining gaps.

The presence of multiple Ducati riders inside the top ten further reinforces the competitiveness of the package, providing Bulega with a strong platform to remain in contention at the front.

With consistent pace and a clear development direction, Bulega remains well positioned to challenge for victory in Hungary, as he continues to build momentum in the 2026 WorldSBK title fight.
