Starting from pole, Bulega briefly lost the lead when Iker Lecuona attacked aggressively on the opening lap. However, the fierce battle at the Adelaide chicane became a stage for intense braking duels, with the Aruba.it riders trading places.
The race was red-flagged on lap nine after Thomas Bridewell's crash forced marshals to repair the air fence at turn 14. After the restart, Lecuona led for one lap before Bulega reclaimed control and set a new lap record at the circuit.
