Flavio Briatore has launched a scathing attack on the FIA over the controversial decision that stripped Pierre Gasly of his podium in Monte Carlo. The Alpine boss alleged a conflict of interest, claiming McLaren gifted a car to one of the judges handling the appeal.
Within 24 hours, the Federation responded. FIA's International Court of Appeal issued a firm statement, denying all allegations and reaffirming the independence of its judges.
FIA's Official Denial of Conflict of Interest Claims
In its official statement, the FIA emphasized that the appointment and participation of judges in the Gasly case followed applicable judicial procedures. They claim the standards are inspired by the International Bar Association guidelines on conflicts of interest in international arbitration.
The FIA also explained that all judges are elected by the General Assemblies, some proposed by F1 teams. They must sign an independence declaration for each case and annually disclose interests to the FIA Compliance Officer.

Interestingly, the FIA revealed that the parties involved never raised any objections to the composition of the panel. They were given the opportunity to do so at the beginning and end of the hearing.
No protests were lodged during the entire proceedings. The FIA sees this as proof that the legal process was fair and transparent, even if the outcome may not satisfy everyone.
Court decisions always leave room for debate. However, the FIA stresses that the diverse composition of judges from various backgrounds actually strengthens the credibility and independence of sporting justice.
