The intense battle for grid supremacy reached its climax as Boutsen VDS secured a stunning pole position for the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup finale at Portimao. The remarkable achievement came after a stellar combined effort from their driver line-up featuring Morris Schuring, Dorian Boccolacci, and Alessio Picariello during a fiercely contested qualifying session.
The #2 Porsche 911 GT3 R posted an average time of 1:42.071 across the three segments, edging out the #17 GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG of Ralf Aron, Maximilian Gotz, and Fabian Schiller by a mere 0.108 seconds. Schuring and Boccolacci laid down the foundations in the opening two segments, leaving Picariello to seal the pole position and the crucial championship bonus point in Q3.
This performance marks a monumental milestone for the manufacturer. It represents the very first Endurance Cup pole for the 992.2-spec Porsche, underlining the massive potential of the new machinery on the demanding Portuguese circuit. Further down the order, the #80 Lionspeed GP Porsche slotted into third place, closely followed by the #64 HRT Ford.

The grid also features high-profile names further up the field, including Arthur Leclerc—younger brother of Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc—who starts fifth in the #50 AF Corse Ferrari alongside Albert Costa and Lilou Wadoux. Meanwhile, dramatic fortunes await other contenders, as motorcycle legend Valentino Rossi faces a daunting recovery drive from 59th on the grid in the #46 WRT BMW after failing to set a valid time in Q2.
The thrilling three-hour endurance showdown is scheduled to get underway at 17:00 local time on Saturday, promising an action-packed conclusion to the championship battle under the Portimao sun.
