Enea Bastianini has finally spoken out after Tech3 KTM confirmed his departure. The Italian rider will join Trackhouse Aprilia for the 2027 season, a decision he admits was not easy. “It is never easy to make these kinds of decisions,” he wrote in response to Tech3's post.
Bastianini described Tech3 as family. “You have been my family, and you will be until the very end. Thank you, love you all,” he said. This farewell marks his fourth team change in five years for the rider known as 'The Beast'.
Previously, Bastianini left Ducati after losing his factory seat to Marc Marquez in 2025. He initially struggled to adapt to the KTM RC16, which features a carbon fibre frame and WP suspension. KTM's financial crisis also limited development, making it hard for him to break into the top ten.
However, luck turned after the 2025 German GP, when he missed the event due to food poisoning. Returning at Brno, he took a Sprint podium and was in contention for a strong result before crashing in the main race. He later made amends with a podium in Catalunya, watched by his future team boss, Guenther Steiner.
Now, despite sitting 12th in the championship, Bastianini is the best KTM rider after Pedro Acosta. He also earned a Sprint podium at COTA this year after a penalty for Acosta.
Tech3 has yet to announce his replacement, but is tipped to field Luca Marini and rookie Senna Agius for the new 850cc and Pirelli era. Bastianini will be one of three Italians on the RS-GP next year, all former Ducati riders.
