Kimi Antonelli is enjoying a second Formula 1 season like no other. The Kimi Antonelli leads the championship by 50 points, but behind the spotlight, he admits there are times he wishes to escape public attention.
This year, Antonelli has been outstanding with six wins in the first half. That is a stark contrast to his challenging rookie season. His popularity has soared, especially in his native Italy.
“It’s great to see the support when I go back home,” Antonelli told media including RacingNews365. “Italians are emotional, and seeing their excitement is great.”

However, fame comes at a cost. There are moments when he wants to enjoy a quiet dinner without being recognized. “For sure there are times you would like not to be recognized, but that’s part of being an athlete,” he said.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff earlier urged calm over the attention Antonelli received. Antonelli is aware of that. “You also need to be careful with the expectations that are built,” he added.
Still, he remains grateful. The support he gets, especially after a good weekend, makes it all worthwhile. “As long as you’re able to embrace these moments, it’s very enjoyable,” he concluded.
