An intensely competitive qualifying session unfolded at Silverstone as Anthony Amato driving for Ammonite Motorsport secured pole position for the third Walter Hayes Trophy heat. The battle for the front of the grid proved to be one of the most closely contested outings of the morning.
Early in the session, Maris Schulte representing Oldfield Motorsport initially set the benchmark before a more representative pace emerged from the rest of the field. KMR Sport contender KC Ensor-Smith briefly showed strong speed, while TM Racing driver Cody Hayhurst suffered a setback after having his fastest lap deleted.
Amato seized control by laying down a 1m02.258s lap on his third tour, establishing a solid gap over his pursuers. Privateer racer Tom Nippers and Megan Gilkes representing Team Dolan quickly joined the fierce fight for the leading positions as the clock ticked down.

With three minutes remaining, Amato shattered the barrier to become the first driver to dip into the 1m01s, posting an unassailable 1m01.904s benchmark. His rivals pushed hard to close the gap as track conditions and slipstream opportunities came into play during the frantic closing moments.
Ensor-Smith fought back to secure second place on the grid, finishing just 0.154s adrift of the polesitter, with Nippers and Schulte rounding out the top positions after late improvements in a tightly packed field.
