The MotoGP World Championship heads to the Mandalika International Street Circuit in Indonesia this weekend, a venue where Aprilia was dominant in 2025, though they failed to convert that speed into a Grand Prix victory on Sunday—which was instead won by Gresini Ducati rider Fermin Aldeguer. For his teammate, Alex Marquez, this weekend is all about bouncing back from a turbulent Motegi outing, where he had to serve a double long-lap penalty following a sprint crash that he triggered.

"Everything is different here compared to Motegi. We have to see how we can adjust to the rear tire. We don't want to make any mistakes and want to play out our full potential. We want to have the pace to achieve a good result," the younger Marquez brother affirmed.

Interestingly, regarding the different carcasses and compounds of the rear tires, even he got a bit confused. Technical variables such as edge grip and the new asphalt layout require immediate attention from the team engineers, with grip levels differing significantly compared to tracks like Austria.

When asked about the upcoming changes to the MotoGP weekend schedule starting in 2027, Alex Marquez could only offer a mild smile regarding the matter.

"It won't change the decisions if we voice our opinion on this. It's just a matter of accepting it or leaving the MotoGP World Championship. We will spend more time on the track and there will also be more risk. It is what it is—we have to accept it and can't do much about it," he stated.

Furthermore, he pointed out that finding a common denominator among the riders is practically a nearly impossible task. In his view, aligning 22 riders on the exact same page is unfeasible due to differing opinions and manufacturer pressures.

"It's impossible to get 22 riders on the same line. There will always be different opinions. There is also constant pressure from the manufacturers in one direction or the other. We all have our contracts and that makes things quite difficult. If you change the format, you have to do it before the contracts are signed," he concluded.
