Alex Marquez believes the MotoGP title picture has changed, with the championship battle increasingly developing into a fight between Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez. However, the Gresini Racing rider insists Marco Bezzecchi cannot be ruled out.
Speaking to DAZN ES, Alex highlighted how quickly the championship situation can change. The shifting standings have placed Martin and Marc increasingly at the centre of the title fight, but Alex believes the battle remains open.
“The picture has changed a little. The fight is Martin-Marc. We also cannot rule out Bezzecchi,” Alex Marquez said, as quoted by DAZN ES.
Alex believes that is simply the nature of sport, where the situation can change in an instant. For that reason, he does not want to narrow the championship battle down to just the leading names.
“Sport changes in an instant like that, but we shouldn't rule out Bezzecchi,” he added.
The Gresini rider also pointed to the wider group at the front of the standings. In his view, the top five remain close enough for the championship picture to change again.
“We shouldn't rule out the top five either. I think they are very, very close,” Alex said.
Alex also highlighted the importance of the points gap between the riders. With the margin still within the equivalent of two races, he believes there is plenty of opportunity for the order to change.
“Whenever you're less than two races apart, anything can happen,” he explained.
Qatar is another factor Alex mentioned when discussing the championship battle. With the field still closely matched, the upcoming races could once again alter the shape of the title fight.
For now, Martin and Marc are increasingly becoming the central figures in the championship battle, but Alex does not consider Bezzecchi or the rest of the top five out of contention. As he stressed, MotoGP can change its picture in an instant.
