Aldeguer and Zarco Cleared to Race for Rest of Aragon GP

Good news arrived from the MotorLand paddock: Fermin Aldeguer and Johann Zarco have been officially declared fit to continue the rest of the Aragon Grand Prix. Both riders underwent strict medical checks after FP1 and received the green light from doctors on Friday (28/8/2026).

This confirmation marks a crucial moment for the two riders, who are just returning from injuries. Aldeguer, riding for Gresini Racing, had missed the previous two rounds due to a fractured T7 vertebra suffered at the Dutch GP. Zarco, meanwhile, had been out longer since the Catalan GP, nursing a left knee injury and a small fibula fracture.

For Aldeguer, this clearance is a huge relief. The Spaniard completed FP1 at high intensity, proving his body is ready for the demands of MotoGP. “I feel good, but we still need to be careful,” he told the media, expressing gratitude for his recovery progress.

Aldeguer's return also draws attention because his future is now clear: from 2027 he will ride for Pertamina Enduro VR46, leaving Gresini. This certainty adds extra motivation to perform at his best for the rest of the season, including at Aragon, one of his favorite circuits.

Zarco, on the other hand, showed remarkable determination. Despite doubts, he passed the physical test and was immediately competitive on the Honda RC213V. “My knee is still a bit sore, but the doctors say it's safe. I'm ready to race,” the Frenchman said with a slight smile, underlining his commitment to get back on track.

The medical decision certainly shifts the dynamics for both teams. Gresini and LCR Honda can breathe a sigh of relief as their key riders return to the fold. With their physical condition in check, Aldeguer and Zarco have the chance to be competitive in the upcoming race, while also fighting for important positions in the riders' championship.

The Aragon GP presents a unique challenge with fast corners and elevation changes. These two riders will be under the spotlight, especially in terms of tire management and consistency. Will they go all-out aggressive or opt for a cautious approach? We'll see their action in qualifying and the main race this weekend.
