The fury of Senna Agius erupted after a first-corner incident at the Moto2 San Marino 2026. The Australian rider lost a podium chance when Angel Piqueras lost control of his bike and took him out.
The crash also eliminated Daniel Holgado, who started from second, from the race. A remorseful Piqueras immediately went to apologize to Agius. But Agius could not contain his anger.
“Yeah mate, you can say sorry but you’re starting from third position,” said Agius. “Imagine if you got a podium.”

Agius' frustration deepened as his Intact GP teammate Manuel Gonzalez stormed to victory, extending his Moto2 championship lead. Agius now trails Gonzalez by 83.5 points with eight races remaining.
In his post-race comments, Agius tried to remain measured. “The positives of this weekend outweigh what happened today because there’s no time to be angry and upset,” he said. “I will take this mindset to FP1 in Austria and continue the way we left here.”
Intact GP team manager Jurgen Lingg had mixed emotions. “After yesterday’s qualifying, we went into the race with high expectations. Senna was very calm on the grid and we knew he had a strong pace. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to prove it because he was involved in a crash right in the first corner,” said Lingg. “Manu didn’t quite hit his stride yesterday in qualifying, but that may even have turned out to be an advantage after the incident. He handled the situation well and positioned himself perfectly.”
Lingg added that the win was a mental boost for Gonzalez. “This was an important step for the championship, not only because of the extra points, but above all from a mental point of view. He showed great mental strength. That’s exactly how we need to continue next week in Spielberg.”
Moto2 continues at the Red Bull Ring on September 20 for the Grand Prix of Austria. Meanwhile, rumours are swirling that KTM and Tech3 are poised to announce Agius’ signing alongside Luca Marini for 2027. Agius could test with the team at the Red Bull Ring.
