Two racing teams, AF Corse and Cetilar Racing, have officially announced their participation in the 2026/2027 Asian Le Mans Series, each fielding a Ferrari 499P. This announcement marks a significant step for both teams, known in European endurance racing, as they venture into the Asian stage with the iconic hypercar from Maranello.
The 2026/2027 season will be a historic edition as, for the first time in the history of the Asian Le Mans Series, all races will not be held in Asia but in Europe. The race format remains the same, with two four-hour races. This decision was made in response to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, so the circuits of Le Castellet, Jerez de la Frontera, and Portimao will host the events. Cetilar Racing will field the #47 car with the same driver lineup as last season: Roberto Lacorte, Nicola Lacorte, and official Ferrari driver Antonio Fuoco. Roberto Lacorte expressed his pride: “The new challenge we are about to face alongside Ferrari in a top-level category like Hypercar and in a rising championship like the Asian Le Mans Series is a milestone in Cetilar Racing's history. It coincides with the tenth anniversary of our first participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2017, which speaks volumes about how much the team has grown over this decade, accumulating experience and satisfaction in the world's most important endurance championships.” He also added that they will bring a wonderful and winning prototype like the Ferrari 499P and are truly excited to be the first private team to experience this moment.
Lacorte also mentioned that they will unveil the new livery of the #47 car at the end of October. The support from AF Corse remains a crucial factor in the team's success, and this collaboration is expected to replicate their impressive performances in previous seasons.
On the other hand, AF Corse will field the #90 car with a trio of drivers: Luis Perez Companc, Yifei Ye, and Nicklas Nielsen. With Luis, we have already raced several times in LMP2, so I can't wait to race with him again in such a competitive championship.
