Pedro Acosta once again showed his pace with KTM at the British MotoGP. Finishing fifth at Silverstone was more than just a number—it signaled that the RC16's development is finally finding its rhythm, and the Spanish rider didn't hesitate to voice his ambition.
In his post-race interview, Acosta admitted he had spoken openly with his team after the summer break. “I'm quite happy to have made a step forward during the weekend,” he said. “I was honest with the team after the break and raised some issues because we are not that far from third place in the championship. It was a way to start this second part of the season, and we improved this weekend on a track where I struggled a lot last year.”
Bold Strategy at Silverstone
Acosta secured fifth place ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio, becoming the top KTM rider with a 16-second gap over teammate Brad Binder, who had to settle for eighth. Interestingly, he revealed he used a different strategy: pushing the tires early and then holding on.

“We pushed the tires at the start and then tried to hold on. It seems to have worked. A nice race,” added the rider who will join Marc Marquez at Ducati next season. This result clearly provides valuable momentum ahead of the upcoming rounds.
Binder Also Feeling More Comfortable
There was also joy from Binder's side of the garage. After finishing only 11th in the Sprint, the South African rider bounced back to eighth in the main race. He feels increasingly at ease with the bike and is starting to find the riding style he wants.
“My weekend improved a lot compared to Saturday afternoon. In the Sprint I felt better with used tires, and in the race I knew I had to be smart and manage the tires—maybe too much, because at the end there was still grip!” Binder said. “The last two GPs have gone better. The results are not yet where I want them, but we are making progress. Let's keep going.”
With this positive trend, KTM is starting to show its teeth at the sharp end. If they stay consistent, the third place Acosta dreams of might not be far away.
