Pedro Acosta ended Friday practice for the San Marino GP with positive feelings after placing sixth, just over three tenths off the fastest time. The KTM rider believes the Austrian manufacturer has made a step forward compared to Aragon, especially in terms of race pace, though he still identifies areas for improvement.
Acosta also highlighted the performance of Marco Bezzecchi, who was once again among the fastest riders, and particularly valued that three KTMs finished inside the top eleven.
Bezzecchi a Step Ahead
The Spanish rider was asked about the possibility of repeating the duel seen in previous races with Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez. “The one who is a step above is Bezzecchi, he goes through the fast corners in a way that scares you, man,” Acosta said.
Nevertheless, the KTM rider was satisfied with the starting point found at Misano, especially after the difficulties the brand had in Aragon. “It's true that the starting point is much better than in Aragon. The pace was quite better than on the first day in Aragon and we are not that far off in time attack,” he explained.
Acosta also stressed that the pace shown on Friday was particularly high and the lap times were already very competitive. “It was a very fast Friday. With this 1:34, I'm sixth, it was my qualifying time last year. So, it's expected that this year will be a very fast race.” Therefore, the Murcian believes KTM has reasons to be satisfied after the first day. “I think we have to be happy, satisfied.”
Three KTMs in the Top Eleven
One of the most positive aspects for the Austrian brand was seeing three of its riders finish inside the top eleven. Acosta believes having more references in the upper part of the standings can also help him find new solutions.

And we've had circuits that perhaps have more grip than any other during the year. So, the bike here normally works well.” The Spaniard also recalled the performance KTM had previously shown at Misano. “You only have to remember the wildcard that Dani did, he was fourth.”
However, Acosta also made it clear that they still need to control some issues with the RC16. “Above all, be careful because ... [TRUNCATED]”
