Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso, and Esteban Ocon are among five drivers under post-race investigation following the 2026 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, adding further uncertainty to an already incident-filled race.
The trio are alleged to have breached yellow flag regulations just before the safety car deployment on lap six, a critical phase when two major crashes occurred. Under FIA rules, yellow flag infringements are treated as serious offences due to their direct link to on-track safety.
The first incident involved Isack Hadjar, who suffered steering failure after clipping the inside wall at the chicane before crashing out. Shortly after, a collision between Liam Lawson and Pierre Gasly at Turn 17 resulted in a dramatic accident, which is also under separate investigation.

In addition, Max Verstappen is being investigated for a potential pit exit line infringement during the safety car period. Such violations are typically clear-cut and often lead to time penalties that can significantly affect finishing positions.
Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas has already received a drive-through penalty during the race for exceeding the pit lane speed limit, effectively ending his chances of scoring points and highlighting strict enforcement of operational rules.
From a strategic perspective, post-race penalties could substantially alter the final classification, particularly in the tightly contested midfield. Teams must account for potential adjustments when evaluating race outcomes and planning future strategies.
With multiple investigations ongoing, the stewards’ decisions will play a decisive role in confirming the official Miami Grand Prix results, with implications extending to grid positions and competitive momentum heading into the next round of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
