The second practice session of the 2026 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez proved to be entirely dominated by Ferrari. After leading a less representative opening session, Charles Leclerc confirmed his supreme pace by topping the timesheets once again during the afternoon running.
The Monegasque driver clocked a blistering lap time of 1:17.827 using soft compound tires, highlighting the strong competitive package of the Maranello squad on the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez asphalt. Right behind Leclerc, the battle at the sharp end of the grid was incredibly close with minimal gaps separating the front-runners.
Second place was claimed by Lando Norris behind the wheel of his McLaren, finishing just 0.103 seconds adrift of the benchmark time. Meanwhile, third position went to Mercedes charger George Russell, who showcased consistent speed to slot in only 0.106 seconds behind the leading Ferrari.

Russell's young teammate Kimi Antonelli also delivered a stellar performance to secure the fourth fastest time, trailing Leclerc by just over two tenths of a second. This strong early form indicates that Ferrari and Mercedes have brought competitive setups, while Max Verstappen rounded out the top five for Red Bull, 0.311 seconds off the pace.
However, amidst Ferrari's overall success, misfortune struck Lewis Hamilton on the other side of the garage. The British driver's FP2 session was cut drastically short after just 30 minutes of running due to a technical issue with his power unit, forcing him to watch the remainder of the session from the sidelines.
