Over at Red Bull, championship heavyweight Max Verstappen will step aside from FP1 duties to accommodate Ayumu Iwasa. McLaren continues its evaluation of future talent by putting Formula 2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli into the cockpit normally occupied by Lando Norris. The Italian prospect, who previously ran in Barcelona and Hungary, is slated to pilot the MCL40 during both the Mexico City weekend and the upcoming round in Brazil.
