WRC, Sportrik Media – Rally Islas Canarias has been confirmed on the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar through the 2029 season following a three-year contract extension, reinforcing long-term stability for the global rally championship.
The Gran Canaria-based event initially joined the WRC for the 2025 and 2026 seasons after being promoted from the European Rally Championship and quickly established itself as a distinctive pure-tarmac challenge thanks to its fast, technical road profile.
Simon Larkin, Senior Events Director for WRC Promoter, stated that the extension through 2029 represents a key step in building calendar continuity, allowing teams, partners, and promoters to plan strategically with greater certainty.
Larkin also highlighted that the quality of the stages, combined with the commitment of local, regional, and national stakeholders, has delivered a strong sporting and organizational benchmark for Rally Islas Canarias within the WRC framework.
The agreement reflects the significant economic impact generated for the Canary Islands, with thousands of visitors boosting tourism and local business during rally week, forming a solid foundation for long-term event support.
As Round 5 of the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship, scheduled for 23–26 April, Rally Islas Canarias is now positioned as a stable and strategic fixture on the WRC calendar for the coming seasons, offering continuity for teams and drivers pursuing world championship points.
