MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Francesco Bagnaia endured a disheartening weekend at the MotoGP San Marino 2025 at Misano Circuit, culminating in an early crash during the grand prix that left him pointless. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider voiced his frustration, while Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna admitted to sharing his impatience over persistent poor results.
Lap Nine Crash Ends Hopes
Bagnaia entered the race aiming to recover from a 13th-place finish in Saturday’s Sprint. With confidence that a full fuel tank could boost his performance, as seen in previous seasons, he targeted a top-five finish. However, his race ended abruptly on lap nine when he lost the front of his GP25 at Turn 10 while running seventh. This marked his second non-scoring weekend of 2025, following Le Mans.
“Honestly, I don’t know what you want me to say. You could see what happened. I was trying and I crashed,” Bagnaia told Dorna post-race. Asked about his thoughts immediately after the crash, he replied, “Things it’s better not to say on TV. When you crash, you’re not very happy.”

Bagnaia’s Frustration Echoed by Dall’Igna
Ducati Corse’s Gigi Dall’Igna acknowledged Bagnaia’s challenging situation. “The situation is definitely delicate with Pecco; he’s struggling. We’ll have to find a way out,” he told Sky Italia. Responding to Bagnaia’s remarks about losing patience, Dall’Igna candidly added, “I’ve lost my patience too, and Pecco’s fans have lost theirs too. It’s normal to say these things when results aren’t coming. We’re all human.”
Dall’Igna highlighted the difficulty of breaking a negative cycle. “Once the negative spiral begins, it always goes downward. Finding a way to reverse it is always complicated. Positivity helps a lot,” he explained. He emphasized the importance of Monday’s official Misano test, the final opportunity this season to trial new bike setups and components outside a race weekend.
2025 Season Struggles and Standings
The 2025 season has been tough for the double world champion. Bagnaia has gone five rounds (ten races) without a podium, grappling with ongoing corner-entry issues on the GP25. “We’ve been struggling since the start of the season,” he admitted. His pointless Misano weekend left him 93 points behind Alex Marquez in the runner-up chase, with only an eight-point lead over Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing.
Meanwhile, teammate Marc Marquez shone, winning the race, highlighting a stark contrast within the Ducati team. Bagnaia and his crew now focus on the Misano test to find solutions, though he noted, “It still feels like a long way.”
Monday’s Misano test is a critical opportunity for Bagnaia and Ducati to address technical issues and rebuild confidence. “We will try to find some solutions tomorrow,” Bagnaia stated, underscoring the test’s significance. With the Japanese Grand Prix next, he aims to reverse his downward trend and return to the front. Positivity and collaboration with the team will be vital to ending the 2025 season on a stronger note.
