The race, filled with intense overtakes and multiple crashes, showcased Marquez’s mastery, reinforcing his dominance in the 2025 season with Ducati Lenovo Team.
Race Start: Bezzecchi Leads, Marquez in Pursuit
The race kicked off with Bezzecchi taking the holeshot, followed closely by Marquez and Alex Marquez in second and third. Drama struck early as Johann Zarco and Joan Mir crashed at Turn 4 on lap one, ending their races. Meanwhile, Augusto Fernandez and Alex Rins received double long lap penalties for jump starts.
By lap two, Bezzecchi maintained his lead, but Marquez stayed within striking distance. Alex Marquez attempted an overtake at Turn 6 but lost time, allowing Fabio Quartararo to hold fourth and Pedro Acosta to close in, showing early aggression.
Laps 3-10: Crashes and Intense Battles
Entering lap three, Bezzecchi, Marquez, and Alex Marquez pulled away from Quartararo, who faced pressure from Acosta. Disaster struck Acosta on lap seven due to a suspected chain issue, forcing his retirement. Simultaneously, Maverick Vinales crashed out, leaving Quartararo in fourth. Bezzecchi’s lead came under threat by lap 10 as Marquez capitalized on the former’s loss of front left aero. On lap 11, Bezzecchi went wide at Turn 11 but clung to the lead.
Laps 11-20: Marquez Seizes Control
The turning point came on lap 12 when Bezzecchi ran wide at Turn 8, allowing Marquez to take the lead. Marquez set a blistering pace, posting the fastest lap on lap 21. Alex Marquez, meanwhile, began to fade, trailing the leaders by over a second. On lap 13, Enea Bastianini crashed at Turn 14, leaving Brad Binder as the sole KTM rider. In the midfield, Franco Morbidelli overtook Quartararo at Turn 8 for fourth, with Fabio Di Giannantonio also passing Quartararo for fifth.
Laps 21-27: Marquez Dominates to the Finish
By lap 19, Marquez extended his lead over Bezzecchi to 0.4 seconds, growing to 0.6 seconds by lap 23. Despite a track limits warning, Bezzecchi held second. Marquez’s fastest lap on lap 21 widened the gap to 0.5 seconds, and he maintained control through the final laps, crossing the line first. Bezzecchi secured second, while Alex Marquez finished third, over two seconds behind. Morbidelli took fourth, followed by Di Giannantonio, with Quartararo settling for sixth under pressure from Fermin Aldeguer and Luca Marini.
The race saw Jorge Martin, Fernandez, and Rins struggle with double long lap penalties, finishing 16th, 19th, and 17th, respectively. The intense competition and technical challenges underscored the high stakes of the 2025 season, with Ducati and Marquez continuing to set the pace.
