The motorsport world is buzzing as internet phenomenon and content creator Garrett Mitchell, widely known by his pseudonym Cleetus McFarland, has officially committed to a full-time racing program. Boasting millions of followers across multiple social media platforms, the American star is now shifting gears toward a serious professional career in stock car racing.
Having previously made sporadic starts across several NASCAR divisions, including the third-tier Craftsman Truck Series and the second-tier O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, the 31-year-old is ready for his biggest challenge yet. He will pilot the #33 Chevrolet SS under the guidance of crew chief Robert Strmiska, embarking on a demanding campaign designed to test his racecraft.
His full-time ARCA Menards Series campaign is slated to kick off at Daytona as a prime attraction on the Daytona 500 undercard. This rigorous schedule serves as the vital first step toward greater aspirations in top-tier motorsport. Committing to a full season ensures that the driver gains crucial seat time and technical understanding required to compete at a high level.
"This is a dream come true," Mitchell said. "Ever since I got behind the wheel with RCR, I’ve wanted more. The goal has always been to become the best race car driver I can be, and running the full ARCA Menards Series schedule gives me that opportunity." He emphasized that having the backing of a legendary organization provides immense confidence as he focuses on learning every aspect of stock car racing.
Richard Childress Racing (RCR) President Mike Verlander praised the newcomer's dedication and approach. "Cleetus has an undeniable passion for racing and a work ethic that has impressed everyone at our organisation," Verlander stated.
