Pajari's Meteoric Rise: From Zero Podiums to Title Contender

After 10 World Rally Championship rounds last year, Sami Pajari had no podiums, no wins, and just 56 points. Fast forward to now, and the Finn leads the standings with 171 points, two wins, and seven podiums—more than anyone else this season. It's a transformation that has stunned the rally world.

His resurgence began after a disastrous Monte Carlo, where he crashed twice in three days. He rebounded immediately with a podium in Sweden, and since then, his consistency has been remarkable. He even secured Finland's 200th WRC win on home soil, cementing his status as a title contender.

Pajari admits he isn't sure what sparked the change. "It was the dream and the plan," he told DirtFish. "This year I feel more at home, more natural. When I decide to push, it works," he added. Experience with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 and a mental reset after Monte Carlo have clearly played their part.

Can Pajari succeed Kalle Rovanpera as Finland's next world champion? The question lingers, but with his current form, he's certainly a force to be reckoned with. The season is far from over, and Pajari has just shown he belongs at the top.
