Valentino Rossi has openly admitted that facing Max Verstappen on track during the GT World Challenge Europe season finale will present a massive challenge. Two of motorsport's biggest icons from entirely different disciplines are set to share the grid in the highly competitive Pro class at the Algarve circuit in Portimao.
The Formula 1 superstar's entry into GT3 racing has added immense excitement to the weekend. The nine-time motorcycle world champion, piloting the #46 BMW M4 GT3 EVO for Team WRT, shared his thoughts with Sky Sport Italy regarding the prospect of going wheel-to-wheel against one of four-wheel racing's ultimate talents.
"It's going to be amazing. I mean, it will be a big problem because he’s sure to be incredibly fast, but it will be fantastic," Rossi stated, expressing his eagerness to potentially follow the Red Bull Racing ace and analyze his driving lines during the three-hour endurance race.
Meanwhile, the reigning F1 dominator will steer the #3 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO for Verstappen Racing alongside co-drivers Chris Lulham and Lexus factory driver Ben Barnicoat. Competing in the same Pro category means direct on-track encounters between the two superstars remain a distinct possibility.
As both drivers prepare for the weekend challenge on the 4.692 km Portuguese venue, the motorsport world eagerly awaits how the high-profile grid battle unfolds under racing conditions.
