Ahead of the crucial qualifying session for the United States Grand Prix, a steep uphill battle awaits Gabriel Bortoleto alongside two other drivers who have been handed significant grid penalties for power unit component changes.
The heaviest sanction has fallen upon the Brazilian driver representing Audi, who will effectively be forced to start the main race from the very back of the grid after accumulating a massive twenty-place grid drop.
This severe penalty comes as a direct result of changing both the energy store and the control electronics on his car. These units represent the fourth components installed for the R26 campaign, exceeding the strict limit of three units permitted by the technical regulations.

Penalty woes also strike Franco Colapinto, who faces a ten-place grid relegation for Sunday's race. The young Argentine talent driving for Alpine will utilize a fourth control electronics unit, committing the exact same regulatory infringement as his counterpart.
On a slightly more optimistic note, a much lighter penalty awaits Arvid Lindblad in Texas. The British youngster racing for Racing Bulls has been slapped with a five-place grid drop for taking on his sixth internal combustion engine.
Although the team has gone beyond the maximum allocation of four available components for the season, the regulations apply a reduced penalty compared to initial infractions due to the specific scaling rules for secondary replacements.
