Max Verstappen's incoming race engineer, Tom Hart, is set to take over duties from Gianpiero Lambiase at three of the remaining races in the 2026 Formula 1 season. This transitional phase marks a significant restructuring within the team ahead of Lambiase's departure.
Lambiase, who has engineered Verstappen to all 73 of his grand prix wins and four world titles, is leaving Red Bull after accepting a senior position at McLaren. He is expected to officially join the Woking-based squad by mid-2027 or, at the latest, the start of 2028.
Hart will step in as the permanent replacement, having previously extracted himself from a planned move to Williams once it was announced back in April that Lambiase would be exiting the Milton Keynes outfit.

Alongside his role as Verstappen's race engineer, Lambiase also serves as head of race engineering at Red Bull. As his departure looms, the Briton is being gradually eased out of crucial engineering meetings to ensure sensitive Red Bull data cannot be taken to McLaren.
As part of the structured transition, Hart will assume responsibilities as Verstappen's race engineer at the United States, Brazilian, and Las Vegas Grands Prix. Meanwhile, Lambiase will continue his duties for the remaining events in Mexico City, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
The Verstappen-Lambiase partnership stands as the second most successful driver-engineer pairing in F1 history, trailing only Lewis Hamilton and Peter Bonnington, who secured 83 wins together at Mercedes.
