Talks surrounding the possibility of restoring a traditional two-driver endurance classic to the Melbourne venue generated substantial discussion throughout the paddock. Following the official calendar release, the historic circuit was locked in as the season finale for the Sprint Cup rather than serving as the opening endurance round alongside existing events at The Bend and Bathurst.

This outcome triggered a mixed wave of responses from prominent figures across the pit lane. Chaz Mostert, spearheading the charge for Walkinshaw TWG Racing behind the wheel of their Toyota contender, made no secret of his disappointment regarding the missed opportunity to expand the endurance calendar.

"I was really expecting us to go back to three enduros next season," Mostert stated candidly. "I think when we have that Enduro Cup it’s special when it’s over three rounds, it’s special for the co-drivers to be doing more racing. When it’s two it just doesn’t quite have the same effect or appeal to me, so hopefully in the coming years we can get back to three."

Conversely, PremiAir Racing team boss Roland Dane expressed reservations about the necessity of a third endurance round, maintaining that traditional two-race calendars remain sufficient, though he admitted a fondness for reviving international co-driver rules for specific coastal events.

Meanwhile, Tickford Racing chief executive Simon Brookhouse backed the multi-round endurance expansion, pointing to the immense sporting value tied to Enduro Cup triumphs and subsequent Finals qualification. Such a setup aligns seamlessly with their junior driver strategies previously highlighted by talents like Reuben Goodall.

"I think there’s potential for a third enduro," Brookhouse emphasized. "The value of the ticket for winning the Enduro Cup through to the Finals, if it was spread over three races – given it’s 300 points a race and if things go wrong in one it’s a harsh penalty – I think that’d be a better ticket into the Finals. Where that may be, I think you just have to determine that at the right time."
