Supercars has made a significant move in its management structure. Mark Pejic, previously the head of strategy and growth, has now been officially appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The news was delivered directly to staff during a meeting on Thursday, signaling a shift in the organisation's direction under RACE ownership.
Pejic is no stranger to Supercars. He joined in 2022, shortly after RACE acquired the series. He is known as a close ally of RACE boss Barclay Nettlefold, having previously worked for his media businesses. The COO position had been vacant since Tim Watsford left for the top job at NRL club St George Illawarra in early 2025.
Nettlefold praised Pejic's contributions in an official statement received by Speedcafe. "Mark has been an important part of Supercars' journey over recent years and has made a meaningful contribution to the growth and evolution of the organisation since the RACE acquisition," he said. He added that the appointment recognises the value Pejic has brought and confidence in his ability to support continued success.
Pejic himself welcomed the new role with enthusiasm. "It's a privilege to be appointed Chief Operating Officer of Supercars," he said. He is committed to continuing to work with teams, partners, and stakeholders to build on strong foundations and drive the sport forward for fans.
The announcement sparked speculation among staff that clarity on the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position would follow. However, there is no official update on that role yet. Nettlefold continues to lead on an interim basis, as he has done since James Warburton's exit in early April.
Beyond Pejic's promotion, the Supercars leadership team has been bolstered by several new names. Shane Rudzis, known as the boss of the Bathurst 12 Hour, has officially joined. Nicole Dickinson has taken over the top events role following Phil Shaw's departure after the Perth round, and Nick Raman started in early August to fill the communications head position previously held by Matthew Carmichael.

This move shows Supercars' effort to strengthen its management foundation during a transitional period. With Pejic already understanding the ins and outs of the organisation, his appointment as COO is expected to bring operational stability.
