Sergio Perez has been forced to skip the fan forum ahead of the Formula 1 Mexico Grand Prix weekend due to an unexpected illness. The marquee driver for Cadillac is currently feeling unwell ahead of his home event, though he is still anticipated to participate in Friday practice sessions at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
Health struggles within the American outfit have compounded ahead of the weekend, with team-mate Valtteri Bottas also having missed Thursday's media day obligations due to illness.
"Checo Perez will unfortunately be unable to attend today's fan forum at his home grand prix due to illness," a team statement read, highlighting the need for additional rest.

Despite the setback, the team confirmed that his participation in the remainder of the race weekend, including FP1 and FP2, is expected to remain unaffected as he targets a strong performance in front of his home crowd.

Contingency plans remain in place for the rookie squad, with test driver Colton Herta slated to take over the sister car during opening practice as part of his superlicence accumulation program, while reserve options are also ready on standby.
The challenging inaugural campaign for the new American constructor has not dampened spirits, especially following the announcement that the experienced Mexican racer has extended his stay with a multi-year deal through 2029.
This landmark weekend marks a major milestone with his 300th Grand Prix start. Track action gets underway with the opening practice session scheduled at local midday.
