Unwavering support continues to surround Sergio Perez following confirmation of his long-term future secured with the Cadillac squad. Amidst the intense build-up to a monumental home race weekend, close confidants have shed light on his remarkable journey and the fierce determination driving his continuation in the pinnacle of motorsport.
Carlos Slim Domit, a lifelong friend and key figure who has supported the Mexican driver's career since his junior days, offered an insightful perspective on his commitment to the grid. He emphasized that the immense experience possessed by the veteran racer is an invaluable asset for a brand-new constructor aiming to establish its competitive footing.
Reflecting on the grueling path back to a full-time seat, Slim Domit acknowledged the massive hurdles overcome to make the project a reality. "It was a big challenge, a lot of work to make this happen," Slim Domit stated during an exclusive conversation. He further praised his compatriot, noting, "He's a driver so complete today; he's a driver who is still very fast. He's very committed."
The drive to shape a competitive future alongside the American outfit serves as a primary motivator for the seasoned competitor. "He wants to consolidate his career, after all the many things that he has done, to develop, to commit, to develop a new team such as Cadillac," he added, highlighting the excitement surrounding the collaborative project.
This latest chapter coincides with a historic milestone as the driver reaches his 300th Grand Prix start on home soil, placing him in an elite club of enduring longevity within the paddock. That achievement stands as a testament to his resilience through numerous high-pressure environments throughout his career.
Addressing the multi-year agreement that keeps him signed through his late thirties, associates insist that aging will not dictate the timeline of his racing journey. Mental fortitude and physical readiness remain fully intact for high-level competition.
"I think it will depend on him. Physically and mentally, he can go for a long time. But it will depend on him rather than age or physical issues," Slim concluded, praising the relentless fighting spirit that has defined his career trajectory.
