Sami Pajari set the fastest time again on SS13 Västilä at WRC Finland 2026, claiming his second stage win of Saturday and increasing the pressure on Sebastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans in the fight at the front.
Västilä was the longest special stage of Saturday morning and combined high-speed roads, technical sections and major jumps. Pajari again set the benchmark, taking 2.3 seconds out of Ogier while Evans limited his loss to just 0.1 seconds.
“It was a very good stage. It’s an amazing stage – amazing and crazy at the same time. There was surprisingly quite a lot of road cleaning, even though I expected there wouldn’t be much left by our starting position,” Pajari said.
The result reduced Pajari’s overall deficit to 20.9 seconds, while Evans now sits only 11.6 seconds behind Ogier. Despite the increasing pressure, Ogier remained calm and said everything was still under control after the first pass through Västilä.
Oliver Solberg, in fourth overall, lost a further 5.4 seconds to Pajari. After struggling to hear his pace notes on the previous stage, Solberg had no communication problems this time, although he described the surface as extremely slippery and easy to make mistakes on.
There was also a major development in WRC2 when Roope Korhonen went off the road and retired. His exit promoted Jari-Matti Latvala to second among the Rally2 runners, 14.7 seconds behind Robert Virves.
Five special stages remain on Saturday. With Evans and Pajari continuing to take time out of the leader, the pressure on Ogier is increasing as WRC Finland 2026 moves towards its next decisive phase before Sunday’s finish.
