A major shake-up has unfolded in the Formula 1 paddock as Ryo Hirakawa is set to make his official Formula 1 race debut this weekend. The Japanese driver has been called up to replace Esteban Ocon for the remainder of the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend.
The significant driver change comes after the TGR Haas F1 Team reserve driver participated in the opening practice session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Friday. During that initial running aboard the VF-26, the talented racer completed his third free practice outing of the season, securing 15th place overall in the timing sheets.
While his Friday appearance was initially planned as part of his regular test duties, circumstances shifted rapidly within the garage, leading the team to hand him the race seat for the rest of the event. This sudden turn of events marks a milestone moment in his motorsport career as he steps up to the pinnacle of single-seater racing.

Moving forward into the remainder of the weekend, the newly promoted driver will partner with regular teammate Ollie Bearman. Together, the pairing will tackle the final practice session and qualifying on Saturday, followed by the grueling 71-lap Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon.
The team has confirmed through a brief official statement that no further comments or elaborations will be provided at this time regarding the sudden lineup adjustment. Attention now shifts entirely to track operations and maximizing performance through the crucial sessions ahead.
