George Russell continued his impressive form at the Italian Grand Prix by topping the final free practice session at Monza, finishing over two-tenths of a second clear of Lewis Hamilton.
Max Verstappen rounded out the top three, while Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris completed the top five at the Temple of Speed. Russell's electric pace gives him a seemingly comfortable buffer heading into qualifying, but the fight for second place remains tight, with only three more tenths covering the next eight drivers.
Late-Session Drama: Verstappen vs. Hamilton
Verstappen and Hamilton showed no love lost in the dying moments. After the Ferrari driver cheekily slipped ahead into the final corner before their last push laps, the Dutchman dive-bombed him into Turn 1, ruining both their flying laps.
The stewards noted both drivers for the incident but took no further action. The session was otherwise relatively quiet, with Liam Lawson spinning at the first chicane and Oscar Piastri voicing frustration over traffic and the lack of a good tow for his qualifying simulations.
Williams Under Investigation and Full Results
Both Williams drivers are under investigation for potential yellow flag infringements, while Alex Albon also received a warning for incorrectly using an escape road. Russell also spoiled Piastri's penultimate effort, leaving the McLaren driver eighth.
With a solid lap time, Russell looks like the man to beat for pole position, but the tight competition behind him promises a thrilling qualifying session at this historic circuit.
