WRC, Sportrik Media - Kalle Rovanperä holds a 16.7-second lead at Rally del Paraguay 2025 after Saturday morning’s loop. Meanwhile, WRC title rival Sébastien Ogier has climbed to third, just 0.5 seconds behind Adrien Fourmaux. The inaugural WRC event in Paraguay is delivering fierce competition on its demanding stages.
Rovanperä’s Commanding Lead
Rovanperä, driving for Toyota, extended his lead after taking control on Friday. Despite feeling he could improve, he remains cautious about the challenging conditions. “I could have driven better, but many sections were very tricky,” Rovanperä said. “The afternoon will be tough with tire wear.” His 17.2-second advantage over Ogier underscores his consistency on Paraguay’s fast and technical stages.

Ogier, meanwhile, recovered from eighth place after a puncture cost him nearly 40 seconds on Friday’s second stage. Through a mix of strong pace and rivals’ misfortunes, he now trails Fourmaux by just 0.5 seconds for second. “We’ve been pushing since the puncture. Let’s see where we can end up,” Ogier stated, signaling his intent to challenge for the podium.
Tight Battle for Podium Spots
Fourmaux, representing M-Sport Ford, remains focused despite Ogier’s pressure. “I’m pleased with my morning. There’s still one and a half days to go, so let’s see,” he said. Meanwhile, Ott Tänak of Hyundai dropped to sixth after a rear-left puncture cost him over 30 seconds. However, he’s confident of catching Elfyn Evans in fourth (8.1 seconds ahead) and Thierry Neuville in fifth (3.7 seconds ahead). “Realistically, we can get Elfyn and Thierry this afternoon with new tires,” Tänak warned.
In WRC2, Yohan Rossel lost the lead to Nikolay Gryazin, who now holds a 6.7-second advantage. Robert Virves is 0.5 seconds behind Rossel, with Oliver Solberg rising to fourth.
With two days of racing left, Rally del Paraguay promises intense battles, particularly for the podium. Rovanperä must maintain his pace to secure the lead, while Ogier and Fourmaux vie for second. Sportrik’s analysis suggests tire management and strategy on the abrasive afternoon stages will be decisive. Tänak’s potential resurgence with fresh tires also adds intrigue.
