Red Bull has officially announced that Max Verstappen has signed a contract extension until the end of the 2030 season. This decision puts an end to months of speculation about the Dutchman's future amidst reported interest from top teams such as McLaren and Mercedes.
Team principal Laurent Mekies greeted the news with a defiant statement, insisting that the Milton Keynes-based squad is "not done yet" and has a bright future ahead with Verstappen. "We are not done yet. There are more races to win, more milestones to achieve, and more history to write," he said.
Verstappen's decision to stay is a major relief for Red Bull. With this new contract, the team secures the services of the grid's best driver at least until the end of the first season of the next regulatory cycle. Verstappen has been a vocal critic of the power unit regulations introduced in 2026, but he will now work with Red Bull throughout that entire period.

Mekies highlighted the special relationship between Verstappen and the team that has developed since the beginning of his Formula 1 career. "Very few partnerships in sport achieve what Max and this team have. Since the very beginning, Max has embodied everything that makes Red Bull special: uncompromising competitiveness, relentless determination, and the courage to challenge convention," he explained.
Verstappen has been the backbone of Red Bull's dominance in recent seasons. This extension not only secures the team's future but also provides stability amid upcoming regulation changes. With this commitment, Red Bull reaffirms its ambition to remain at the forefront of Formula 1.
